Karon Beach south of Patong Beach on the west coast is one of the loveliest beaches on Phuket island. The large beach has space for everyone. Make sure to bring your sunglasses, without you may not bear the dazzling whiteness of the sand.

If you find Patong Beach too crowded then try Karon Beach. A marvellous sunset will reward you, if you really stay that long at the beach.







Just relax on one of the plentiful available deckchairs with a cool drink or try some watersports activities such as wind surfing.

Patong Beach is the most busiest beach on the west coast. For me it is a bit like little Pattaya of the south. The water is much cleaner than at Pattaya's beaches. But there are many other much nicer beaches than Patong. Rent a car or motorbike to explore the coast, if you are not too scared. Don't forget the very steep roads and left hand traffic. Also the way of driving is a bit unusual to express it politly! The less brave can rent a vehicle with driver. If the driver should take you somewhere and pick you up again in the evening, it's good advice to pay the driver not before he really picked you up in the evening or you may end up waiting for good.

If you drive yourself: Please remember all the road accidents with a very high death toll every year! Who does not ride a heavy motorbike themselves at home, it is highly recommended that you do not rent one on Phuket!!!

Many chinese temples can be found on Phuket since has an old chinese tradition. But also Muslims of the Sunni sect are to be found on the island. But the dominant religion is Theravada Buddhism as well as elsewhere in Thailand.
