By clicking on most images (exept the night one's) or on the names of an exhibit you will get an enlarged picture in a new window. The pictures were taken on 05-January-2001 by Mister Flaggy / Switzerland. All night pictures are from the brochure of Mini Siam.
Mini Siam is located on Km 143 at Sukhumvit Highway to Rayong just opposite of Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. It is easily recognised by the huge statues right at the edge of the road. Coming from North Pattaya Road turn left onto Sukhunvit Highway towards Bangkok and drive past Bangkok Pattaya Hospital to the next U-turn then back to Mini Siam.
To see everything you need about 2 hours. Drinks and snaks as well as souvenirs are sold at some shops inside the compounds. There is also a restaurant. It must be quit impressive to visit Mini Siam after dark, when all the miniatures are illuminated. But this is also the time when most tourbuses unload plenty of sightseeing hungry tourists. If you like to enjoy all the beauties leisurely you may be better off in daytime.

Wat Phra Kaeo, the Tempel of the Emerald Buddha in the Thai section of Mini Siam
When I first visited this place in 1990 there were "only" miniatures from within Thailand on display. Those were the days Mini Siam got its name from. Nowadays they have two sections (about equal in size) in total an area of about 29 rai. The original Thai section is still there at the rear and the world section - some call it Mini Europe, because many of the miniatures are located there - right at the entrance showing attractions from all continents.
Many of the modells show great craftmanship. However a few of the miniatures are in urgent need of restauration works, such as Hualamphong Station or the bridge over the River Kwai. The buildings and monuments are reconstructed to 1:25 scale.

After you passed the entrance to Mini Siam the Paris tourist attractions catch your eys: Arc de Triomphe, Tour d' Eifel and Palais Chaillot. |
On entering the Thai section both remarkable models of the Golden Mount in Bangkok and Ayuthaya side by side attract your attention. |
Most impressive and one of the masterpieces is the Cathedral of Cologn / Germany. Another German landmark at Mini Siam is the fairytale Castle of Neuschwanstein.
The most famous tourist attraction of Paris / France you find straight ahead from the entrance: Arc de Triomphe, Eifel Tower and Castle Chaillot. Next to the Atomium / Brussels (Belgium) stands Miss Liberty the world wide wellknown statue at the harbour of New York / USA.

On the right behind Miss Liberty takes Mount Rushmore, the national memorial of the USA with its huge sculpture heads of four famous american presidents, the attention of the visitors.

China is represented by the Temple of Heavens (T'Ien Tan) in Beijing.

Not to be missed is the great model of the centerpiece of Angkor Wat, the Cambodian ancient tempel complex (right). Walking passed Sydney Harbour with the Opera House (below) you reach Tower Bridge of London (below right).

In front of a giant model of Abu Simbel / Egypt the Leaning Tower of Pisa is located along with the other buildings on that place in Pisa / Italy. A few steps further you find yourself at the Colosseum in Rome / Italy.

But they not only feature welknown buildings, there are also art works to be found such as the Trevi Fountain (Rome/Italy) or the Johann Strauss Memorial in Vienna / Austria.
In the Thai section there are many tempels from all over Thailand on display. Such as Wat Phra Kaeo and Wat Arun in Bangkok. But also the ancient temples of Ayutthaya and Sukhotai are shown.

More worldly are the miniatures of the harbour at Klong Toey or Bangkok airport. To give an impression of the old wooden Thai houses, different types were reconstructed and arranged in a old style Thai village. Important monuments and memorials are there as well.
