The Montri Hotel is centrally located at the center of the eastern moat right at the Thaphae Gate. Ratchadamnoen Road at the small side of the hotel, alongside Zest Bakery and the restaurant of the same name, takes you directly to Wat Phra Singh. The Moon Muang Road running alongside in front of the hotel belongs to the two one way main roads along the moat which take all the traffic around the old town center, so traffic there is quite heavy. Thaphae Road at the other side of the city gate leads to Nawarat Bridge and to the railway station. The area around Thaphae Gate with its multifunctional square in front, which is used for various events throughout the year, developed itself into one of the main tourist spots of Chiang Mai. Therefore many various commercial touristic facilities are located here. |
|
Pick-Up and Drop-Off. Like at almost all hotels and guesthouses in
Chiang Mai, there is a pick-up and drop-off service from Montri Hotel available. For their
guests they offer free transportation between the hotel and the airport, train station or
busstation. This service is operated from 8 am to 5 pm.

On entering Montri Hotel through the main entrance at Moon Muang Road you
will find yourself in a large but nevertheless pleasant entrance hall with the reception
counter right in front, where the friendly and atten-tive staff will welcome you.

The friendly furnished entryhall tempts the guests for a little rest sitting down on one of the many comfortable armchairs nicely grouped around tables. In the background of the left picture the passage with the foto shop to the Zest Bakery and Restaurant can be spotted, where before the most delicious donuts in town were on sold by JJ Bakery. Also Zest Bakery sells various sweets to take away. |

The rooms are clean and reasonable furnished. In a standard room you find
a twin bed or two single beds, a large fridge as minibar, a medium sized TV
with remote
control and satellite programs, a wardrobe, a writing table and an armchair - just about what
you would expect in that rate category. The floor is made of teakwood. Remark: in
some rooms are no electrical spare outlets available! The temperature can be contolled
individually by airconditioning and a ceiling fan. The "hong nam" (bathroom) is
equipped with a thaistyle hot water shower (the water flows freely across the floor to the
drainpipe), a small washbasin having only very little space to put your toilet articles and a
western style toilet with water cleansing (paper available as well). There is no
electrical outlet for a hairdryer or razor available in the bathrooms (hong nam =
waterroom)!

Both of the above pictures give an impression of the room 310, one of the superior rooms. The room is equally equipped as the standard rooms except of the larger bed. The floor is also made of teak wood. The rooms measuring about 15.8m2 are all very functional. The rectangular bathroom measuring about 3.3m2 is fully integrated into the room and therefore gives the room its L-shaped outline. |
